I got a boo boo today. My armrest has been cracking for a while, but it finally split today. Any suggestions on how to fit it. I thought about a band-aid, but this is not very attractive. Do those self-repair leather kit work? The rumor among us Volvos is that those “As Seen On TV” kits don’t work. What about this product called “Magic Menders”? I will try anything. I feel like I’m an aging woman in need for Botox. Hey that’s an idea . . .

Got new snow shoes today and they are already dirty. Shhhhhh . . . Don’t tell anybody. I will have them clear by the end of the day. There is a watering hole just down the road.

According to dieselstation.com, Volvo has announced today that it will introduce its first plug-in hybrid by 2012. Pure electric power from the battery will cover the daily transport needs of 75 percent of European drivers. For longer distances, an efficient dieselhybrid engine automatically takes over. The combined range is about 1200 kilometres. Carbon dioxide emissions will average out at 49 grams per kilometre, with fuel consumption of 1.9 litres per 100 km.
“The new Volvo plug-in will be a truly enjoyable car to drive, featuring Volvo’s high safety and comfort standards. At the same time, CO2 levels and fuel consumption will be as low as half that available on the market today.” says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

So as I was out for a drive today, my stick shift knob popped right off. When my owner attempted to put it back on. It worked for a couple more days, but then started to crack. So my owner had this bright idea to go get another one from a junk yard. I tried to tell him it wouldn’t work. But he didn’t listen. So off to the junk yard we went. They had no Volvos and so my owner tried one from a Renault. WRONG! It doesn’t work, I’m a Volvo not a Renault. So he tried store after store and no one carried one that fit me. He even tried to glue my broken one back on me as you can see in the evidence provided in the above photo. Duh! I am one of a kind. I can only use Volvo manufactured parts. Nothing else is good enough for me. I do have a reputation to uphold you know.

We went to a camp in the mountains again this weekend and when we returned to our trusty Volvo 460 we noticed that another Volvo had been keeping ours company. It was just soooo cute that we had to take a picture. When talking with it’s owner he mentioned to us that his Volvo just like ours is aging the same way with the same cosmetic defects. We tried to speak softly so that the Volvos wouldn’t hear us and effect their self-esteem. Regardless of the blemishes the Volvo is the most trusty car and like my daddy always says, “it’s what’s on under the hood that matters the most”.

My owners were kind enough to treat me to a private get-a-way at an exclusive villa resort in the mountains of Bulgaria. They did so because they were so appreciative of all I do for them. And after that experience without me sleeping on the ground in a tent in the Balkan mountains, we have grown so much closer.

It’s not what you think. I haven’t lost my hubcap in San Fransisco like my brother Volvo 460. I got a flat tire on these great roads here in Europe and had to change it with a bigger tire and now my hubcap doesn’t fit. I feel like I’m missing a part of myself. We have to go to tire doctor soon for some new tires. It is embarrassing to be seen like this.
