Didn’t see Jason Statham, Jessica Alba or Tommy, but did notice there was no Black Sea close by to the House-Monument of the Bulgarian Communist Party featured in the movie Mechanic Resurrection. The Buzludzha Monument is actually located at Buzludzha. Buzludzha is a historical peak in the Central Balkan Mountains of Bulgaria. In 1868, it was the place of the final battle between Bulgarian rebels led by Hadji Dimitar and Stefan Karadzha and the Ottoman Empire.

This structure was built to honor the country’s Communist movement and some feel that it should be left to ruin as a symbol of a fallen totalitarian regime.

The Search for ourVolvo in Google returns a number of pleasant surprises.
For example, Alex & Wendy from Old Town Home bought a NEW CAR: a 2011 Volvo XC60 – great choice indeed. Congratulations!
Other friends from CT, moving to Asia, are selling their 2005 XC90
YouTube has a video about our Volvo fh 480
Another story from YouTube has a S60 driven in Romania, which reminds us, we have some footage of driving our 1995 Volvo 460 (1.8i) from Berlin to Bulgaria that should be posted here soon…

Most people tour Bansko, Bulgaria for the wonderful ski slopes, but in our case it is quit the opposite.  We did not go on a ski trip but a see trip, to all of the churches in the area.  What a quaint place.  Recommended stop for a old Volvo like me.

Pri Miro is a great little place to eat in Bulgaria and if you are wondering what the title says, so am I.  But it is the name of the village where this great grill restaurant is located right near the town of Dupnitsa, Bulgaria.

We went to a camp in the mountains again this weekend and when we returned to our trusty Volvo 460 we noticed that another Volvo had been keeping ours company.  It was just soooo cute that we had to take a picture.  When talking with it’s owner he mentioned to us that his Volvo just like ours is aging the same way with the same cosmetic defects.  We tried to speak softly so that the Volvos wouldn’t hear us and effect their self-esteem.  Regardless of the blemishes the Volvo is the most trusty car and like my daddy always says, “it’s what’s on under the hood that matters the most”.

My owners were kind enough to treat me to a private get-a-way at an exclusive villa resort in the mountains of Bulgaria.  They did so because they were so appreciative of all I do for them.  And after that experience without me sleeping on the ground in a tent in the Balkan mountains, we have grown so much closer.
